The Polarization Paradox
We are living extremes, cultures are clashing, the left and right of politics is battling hard, viruses are beating out medicine, what we eat, what we drink, what we think are all under siege as we try to bridge the divides been us and find common ground again.
We may think that some are acting as crazy as the climate, that our divide is inevitable, that our world is tumbling into chaos. You may be right. Yet you may be wrong.
Perhaps the polarization of everything is unstoppable, that we will experience opposite extremes for some time to come. Well that may be so but we are not helpless. We do have a choice. We do have a voice.
Perhaps we can’t control the polarization paradox yet we can control how we deal with it, how we work together to persevere through it together. To establish commonality despite the chaos.
The way I see it, polarization across many areas of our lives is happening. It’s not something we can control right now, it’s being done to us. What we can control, what is in our power is how we deal with it. Do we follow its path and take sides that will eventually divide us ? Or do we strive to stick out the storm together. To stay united and thwart our reactionary impulses ? The choice is ours, every single one of us have that choice.
I contend to you that perhaps this is our big test. The big trial of humanity, to determine if we will give into the polarization and split apart, or through, blind dedication, weave our way out of the crazy by standing together in solidarity.
We are all faced with trauma, hardship, pain from time to time. We can’t control what happens to us but we can surely control how we choose to face our fears and in so doing grow stronger together than ever before.
